The day job
I'm a structural engineer at Associated Engineering in Vancouver, working on civic infrastructure across Canada and the U.S. Water and wastewater structures, seismic design, the usual mix of analysis and drawings.
What has my spare attention
Engineering automation, still. The InnovAEtion 2026 entry, ae-pdf-spellcheck, a PDF spellchecker for engineering drawings, has gone from a competition demo to a tool the company distributes through its internal Software Center. I did the build and the deployment packaging myself, and what started as a rollout to every regional Drawing Production QA team is now a rollout to the whole company. ETABuddy keeps earning its place in the daily loop. This site is mid-revamp, which is why parts of it change from week to week.
What I'm learning
Spec-driven agentic development, mostly. Around it, local model orchestration with Ollama and the operations side of running my own infrastructure. Spec-Driven Agentic Engineering for Engineers is the current state of that thinking.
