Speaking & recognition
I talk about two things: Canadian structural codes, and what happens when you point engineering discipline at software. A sanitized list is below. Client and colleague details are left out on purpose.
Talks and presentations
2026
ETABuddy and spec-driven agentic development
Presented the tool and the method behind it to my firm's agentic coding working group. Background reading: the essay and the case study.
2026
NBCC 2025 vs 2020: what changed
Walked the structural engineers at my firm through the shifts between the two code editions and what they mean for day-to-day design.
2026
BC Building Code client seminar
Contributed to a client-facing seminar on the BC Building Code and its practical implications.
Recognition
The InnovAEtion climb
InnovAEtion is Associated Engineering's company-wide innovation award. I entered three years running and kept climbing:
- 2024 2nd place
- 2025 2nd place
- 2026 1st place
The 2026 entry was a spellchecker for engineering drawings. The climb is the part I'm proud of: three tries, three placements, and the same habit each time, which is showing up with the next thing.
